Common challenges
What makes transit connectivity hard
Large mixed indoor and outdoor footprints
Terminals, garages, maintenance bays, and open yards each behave differently in RF terms, and one network has to cover them all.
Operational radio reliability
Dispatch, maintenance, and safety operations run on radio. Dead zones in a garage or yard are an operational risk, not an inconvenience.
Public-facing connectivity
Riders expect working Wi-Fi in stations and on platforms, at commuter scale, alongside the operational network, without compromising either.
Proven at transit scale
Coverage that spans the whole footprint
On SMART Bus, WZC overhauled enterprise Wi-Fi across a 472,449 sq ft facility, terminals, garages, offices, and outdoor yards, with 73 access points behaving as one network.
- Indoor and outdoor coverage engineered as one RF design
- Point-to-point bridging ties remote lots and yards in without trenching
- Operational radio and rider Wi-Fi kept separate, and both dependable

How WZC helps
One RF design from the terminal to the yard
WZC engineers coverage across the whole footprint, indoor, outdoor, operational, and public-facing, and has proven it at transit scale on SMART Bus.
Terminal and maintenance-bay Wi-Fi, cellular coverage across the yard, and code-mandated ERCES are designed as one RF plan, so they share pathways and headend space instead of competing for them.
- One wireless design spanning terminals, garages, offices, and outdoor yards
- Engineered radio coverage that keeps operations dependable across the property
- Public-facing Wi-Fi that holds up at commuter scale

What this buyer asks us
Can you cover maintenance bays and vehicle storage?
Those are the hardest parts of a transit facility and usually the reason we are called. Steel structure, vehicles that move and block signal, and staff who need connectivity while they are under a bus. They get surveyed and designed like any other high-difficulty space, then validated with the bays occupied rather than empty.
Do transit facilities need an ERCES?
Garages, maintenance facilities and operations centres are buildings like any other under IFC 510 and NFPA 1225, and they tend to fail for the same reasons: heavy structure, below-grade areas, large metal volumes. A benchmark grid test is how you find out where yours stands.
Can the same network carry operational systems as well as staff Wi-Fi?
Yes, on segmented networks designed for it. Vehicle telemetry, CAD/AVL, fare systems and staff connectivity have different security and availability needs, and separating them is a design decision made at the start rather than a retrofit.
Operating more than one facility? We standardize the design and repeat it, with one point of contact for the portfolio and one set of drawings every site is built from.
