WZC Compliance Care

Passing is day one. Staying compliant is every year after.

Compliance Care is the annual plan: ERCES testing, recertification, monitoring, and AHJ documentation. Whoever installed it, we will certify it.

How it works

Passing this year, and next year

The system is monitored all year, then on the anniversary every annual check is repeated and the report goes to the AHJ.

The compliance yearCheck complete

How the year runs

Five steps, every twelve months

  1. Re-test

A full benchmark grid test against the criteria the AHJ accepted when the system was commissioned.

  2. Report

Pass or fail by grid square, with the measured levels, in the format your jurisdiction files.

  3. Remediate

Anything below the line is corrected and re-tested before the certificate is issued.

  4. Certify

The report and certificate go to the AHJ, and a copy stays in your building's file.

  5. Monitor

Alarms are watched until the next test, so twelve months later nothing is a surprise.

Already have an ERCES?

Recertification is due every 12 months

A system that passed its acceptance test is compliant on that day and on no other day by default. Batteries age, donor alignment drifts, a tenant fit-out puts a wall where the grid used to pass, and the certificate on file goes stale twelve months after it was signed.

We take over systems other firms installed. The first visit is a full benchmark grid test against the original acceptance criteria, so you find out where the building actually stands before anyone signs anything longer than a year.

  • Annual re-test to the same grid the AHJ accepted
  • Priority emergency response when an alarm fires
  • One documentation trail, year on year
  • Whoever installed it, we will certify it

What's included

One plan, the whole obligation

  • Annual grid re-test

The building is re-tested against the grid the AHJ accepted, and recertified on the same criteria.

  • 24/7 alarm monitoring

BDA and FACP alarms are watched around the clock, so a fault is a phone call rather than a finding.

  • Batteries on schedule

Standby batteries are replaced before they fall out of specification, not after an inspector notices.

  • The AHJ package

The report, the certificate and the as-builts, filed where the inspector expects to find them.

  • Priority emergency response

A fault that puts the system out of compliance is ours to fix, ahead of the queue, on a plan you already hold.

Annual recertification, answered

Who is responsible for ERCES: owner, tenant or the GC?

The building owner, in almost every jurisdiction. A GC carries it through construction and hands it over at closeout; a tenant fit-out can break coverage the owner is still answerable for. Confirm the wording with your AHJ, because a few write it differently.

What does annual recertification actually involve?

A qualified vendor re-tests the building on the same grid the AHJ accepted, verifies the BDA, the alarms and the standby batteries, and files a report. If every grid square still passes, the certificate is renewed. If any fail, they are corrected and re-tested first.

Can WZC take over a system another vendor installed?

Yes, and it is a large part of what this plan is for. The first visit is a full benchmark grid test against the original acceptance criteria, so both sides know exactly where the building stands before a longer commitment.

What happens if the system fails the annual test?

We tell you what failed and why, quote the remediation, and re-test once it is done. A failure found on a scheduled visit is a work order. The same failure found by an inspector is a finding against the building.

Does the AHJ need a copy of the report?

Most want it on file, and some want it inside a set window after the test date. We file it where your jurisdiction expects it and keep the copy that proves we did.

What does it cost?

It is quoted per building, because a fifteen-story high-rise and a single-story store are not the same visit. Tell us the building and the system and you will have a figure within one business day. Owners with more than one building can put every site on one program and one annual calendar under Multi-Site & National Accounts.
